Hi-Force UK was contacted by CIVING SA for an effective and economical solution to perform a synchronised lift of an existing bridge over the Jiboa river in El Salvador. As part of a highway extension project, CIVING was awarded the construction of the new bridge over the Jiboa river, which was built in parallel next to the existing bridge but at 1.5 metres higher due to the increase in the flood stage of the river. The existing bridge needed to be raised to the same height as the new bridge as well as allow for installation of a new support structure that the bridge would rest on after completion of works.
Following several discussions and after assessing the requirements for the project, Hi-Force offered CIVING the SLF synchronised lifting system to precisely lift the existing bridge which comprised of six bridge spans of 30 metres length each. Along with the SLF4D system, Hi-Force also supplied 4x 203-ton capacity double acting hydraulic cylinders offering stroke lengths of 305 mm, 8x 30 metres high-pressure hydraulic hoses and applicable mounting kits, displacement sensors and sensor cables required for the functioning of the cylinders with the SLF system.
